There are a variety of different programs that can save images, graphics, and textures as DirectDraw Surface (DDS) files. This will allow you to share your work with others, or use it in a wide array of applications. When you are happy with your image, you can save it in a variety of file formats, including DDS. You can also manipulate the DDS file using the numerous tools included in GIMP, such as the brush and airbrush tools. The DDS file will now be opened inside of GIMP, allowing you to adjust things such as contrast, brightness and color levels. Then select the DDS file that you wish to add to GIMP. Once you’ve installed the plugin, open GIMP and select “File -> Open”. And you can find links to download them online. First, you’ll need to make sure you have the correct plugin installed. Adding a Digital Dunham Surface (DDS) to GIMP is fairly straightforward and only takes a couple of steps.
